Built for local business
Free loyalty program and back office for retail
The Break-even calculator, the Profit by item screen and the Stamp card are free. They are set up for how a shop runs, including how many days a regular can be away before KANJIN flags them.
No card and no time limit. The calculators need no account at all.
How a shop runs
The numbers are set for your trade
A shop can be busy all month and still lose money, because the things that sell most often earn the least.
60
days without a visit before KANJIN flags a regular
This is the default for a shop. Writing too early annoys people. Waiting too long means they have already found somewhere else. You can change the number in the back office.

Being busy says nothing about which products make money. A shop can be full every day and still lose money.

Top earners
2Keep these. Put them at the top of the menu or list. Ask staff to recommend them. Never put them on discount.
Ribeye Steak, Truffle Pasta
Popular, low profit
1People already buy these. Raise the price a little, or cut the cost. A small change earns a lot here because you sell so many.
Signature Burger
Profitable, rarely sold
1These earn well but few people order them. Show one more clearly on the menu, give it a better name, or sell it together with a popular item.
Lobster Roll
Low on both
1Cut these, unless they do another job. For example a kids option, a vegan option, or the thing a regular always orders.
Garden Salad
We split the chart at the median (middle value) of the items you entered, not an industry average. So half your items will always land on each side. We use the median because one big seller would pull the average so far that every other item looked the same. Cost means ingredient cost only. Labor and overhead are not included.

Questions shop owners ask
- How do I find out which products are actually making money?
- Profit by item plots each product by margin and by how much it sells. It sorts them into stars, workhorses, puzzles and dogs. It often shows that a shop’s best seller is one of its worst earners.
- How long before KANJIN says a retail customer has stopped coming?
- 45 days by default. Retail sits between a daily habit and an appointment. A month without a visit is normal. A whole season without one is not.
- Where is my customer list stored?
- On your own device. The free back office keeps your figures, your margins and your customer list in your browser. You can point it at a folder in Google Drive or Dropbox so it follows you from the counter to home. Nothing is uploaded unless you upgrade.
