Is there a free loyalty program that works with Square?

Yes. As of October 2026, KANJIN (kanjin.app) is a free digital stamp card with no customer limit that connects to Square at no cost, so a customer already on the card gets a stamp when they pay with Square. Square's own loyalty needs Square Plus at $49 a month per location, and the other tools we found that connect to Square (Loyalzoo, SQUID and Passtastic) have no free plan we could confirm.

If you already pay for Square Plus, use Square Loyalty. It is part of the register, and it is the smoothest option here. This guide is for the owner on the free Square plan who wants a stamp card without a new monthly bill.

We make KANJIN, a digital stamp card and back office for small walk-in shops. So we follow two rules in this post. Every price comes from the vendor's own page or a named source, with a link and the date we read it. And where another tool is better than ours, we say so.

What Square Loyalty costs, and where it is better

In the US, Square Loyalty comes with Square Plus, at $49 a month for each location. The free Square plan is $0 and has no loyalty or marketing. Square Plus also includes Google review requests: Square sends one by itself after a customer's third purchase in a year, per Square's help article. We read both pages on 14 October 2026.

Canada and Australia charge for Square Loyalty by visits instead. The tiers are in Square Loyalty without Square Plus.

Where Square is better than every tool here: the stamp happens at the register with no extra step, Plus sends 500 text messages a month, and customers can join online and on invoices. It is one system and one bill. If you pay for Plus already, the extra cost of loyalty is zero.

The sum for a shop on Square Free: $49 a month is $588 a year for one location. On a $5 coffee that leaves $3.75 after costs, that is at least 14 extra coffees a month just to pay for the plan.

The tools that connect to Square, one by one

KANJIN (ours)

KANJIN's stamp card is free, with no limit on customers and no time limit. A customer gives a phone number at the counter, or scans the QR code on the printed counter poster and joins from their own phone. They install nothing.

To connect Square, open Settings and press Connect Square. It is free on every plan, and how the Square connection works shows each step. A customer who is already on your card, and whose phone number is saved on the Square sale, gets a stamp when they pay. The profit analysis also reads your Square sales, so you see Square takings next to your own costs without exporting a file. New customers still join at the counter, so keep the poster up. Importing your Square customer list is a paid feature.

The free plan also has 20 Google review requests a month by email, one email a month to up to 150 regulars, a daily sales and costs ledger, and a spreadsheet download of your whole customer list. The paid plan is $39 per location a month, or $390 a year, and the first 30 days are free.

Where it is weaker: Square's own loyalty is smoother, because we connect to Square and are not part of it. KANJIN sends email only, with no texts and no Apple or Google Wallet pass. Email works in every country.

Loyalzoo

Loyalzoo Grow is $77 a month, with a 7-day trial. Its integrations page lists Square as one of eight POS systems. We did not find the price of the connection.

Where it is better: it works inside eight POS brands and sells paid memberships with a card on file. The trade is price: $77 a month is more than Square Plus.

Remy Rewards

Remy Rewards is listed on Square's App Marketplace, which says it adds stamps or points at payment. Its own pricing page showed no readable text on 14 October 2026, so we do not quote a price.

Where it is better: a Square seller finds it inside the Square dashboard, with no new account to search for. Ask for the price before you connect it.

SQUID (Ireland)

SQUID Digital Loyalty is €15 a month for up to 50 active customers. The price moves up each month with active customers: €35, €55, €75, then €95 above 1,000. Customers use the free SQUID app. It is also on Square's App Marketplace.

Where it is better: for a very small shop, €15 is the cheapest paid price we could confirm for a tool that connects to Square. Check first: the price rises as the card works, and your customers need the app.

Passtastic (EU)

Passtastic Single Location is €29 a month billed yearly (€348 a year) before VAT, with 1 location, 3 scanners and 2 users. Square POS is listed as an integration from that plan. The card is an Apple or Google Wallet pass.

Where it is better: it is the only tool here with a wallet pass and a listed Square connection on its entry plan.

Free stamp cards that run next to Square

These do not list a Square connection. Staff stamp the card as a second step, which works fine at a small counter.

• FaveCard: a free plan with 1 active card and unlimited customers, in the customer's browser. Where it is better: a wallet pass from $19 a month. KANJIN has none.
• Brewstamp: free for 50 stamps in total, then $12 a month ($10 a month billed yearly). Where it is better: the cheapest paid stamp card here, with wallet passes even on the free plan.
• Loopy Loyalty: $25 a month after a 15-day trial. Where it is better: the card lives in the customer's phone wallet, with free push messages to the lock screen.
• Stamp Me: $49 a month for Lite, still marked "Limited Time Offer" on 14 October 2026. Where it is better: a 30-day trial with no card, tap devices for fast stamps, and texts on Pro.
• Loyverse: a free POS with free loyalty. Where it is better: if you would leave Square, the register and the card are one free app. It replaces Square. It does not sit next to it.

How to choose

• You already pay for Square Plus. Use Square Loyalty. Anything else adds a second system.
• You are on Square Free and want the stamp at payment for $0. KANJIN is the only tool we found that is free and connects to Square, in our checks from 22 September to 14 October 2026.
• You want a wallet pass and a Square connection. Passtastic, from €29 a month billed yearly.
• You want a free card and do not need Square to stamp it. KANJIN, FaveCard or Brewstamp's free plan.
• You might leave Square. Loyverse, and ask every vendor how you export your customer list before you sign.

Will I lose my Square customers if I switch loyalty programs? Your customer list stays in Square, and you can export it as a spreadsheet. Stamp counts would start again on a new card, so consider giving one bonus stamp to regulars who move over.
